Getting the most out of Your WORD for the Year ahead

“I’m Listening”!

This is my message to the coming year.

I received a little wake-up call at the close of 2014 as to how I had slipped off track – where I was misaligned with my purpose – and how I was playing small. So I started the year off with the intention to listen.  In fact I often don’t feel the call to declare my intentions or dream big for the year ahead until the beginning of February.  With small children at home on school holidays, family holidays and working bees around the house, I often wait till the school year has started to get to the juicy part about what I desire for the year ahead.

This time it’s different.  I actually identified my intentions around the time of the new moon at the end of 2014 – and I listened to my body – she was screaming for my attention – so I listened – and I felt her relax and give over her trust to me.  I honoured that trust by doing a juice cleanse, cleaning up my food and drink intake, getting more sleep, dropping a lot off my to do list, and formulating some ideas for getting my body moving in 2015.

And she rewarded me with a clearer mind and a greater sense of space within to provide some clarity for what I want and need out of 2015. And I’m a little over the moon about all that is coming my way this year.

I love selecting a guiding word for the year ahead – and for me this word was very evident during that new moon period.

CONNECT

A year of connecting with my self – primarily my body, my soul, my joy, the Universe, my family, my friends, my soul sisters, and YOU.

But like all well thought out ideas, they need a good dose of heart truth for them to succeed.  And by listening/connecting to my soul – I found that heart truth.  During a meditation in the early days of the New Year, I went within to unlock the door to my inner self and when I came out there was a word written on a white dress – I knew it would say “connect” – yeah – it didn’t!

It said “WORTHY”

And just like that I could see that this underpins everything – this year, last year – all years past and future.  Unless I believe I am worthy – I cannot fully open the door to my inner light. This is now the WHY behind every intention I make.  I will connect with my body – because I am worthy of love. I will connect with my husband – because I am worthy of a loving relationship (and so is he).

For me it anchors in my intentions – solidifies them and gives them a concrete purpose.  I have a sense that everyone has this underpinning word – that perhaps their heart holds as truth – and although their mind has rightfully picked a kick-ass word that resonates totally – giving it a WHY is what will make it reality.

And because I believe you are Worthy – I invite you to dig a little deeper and find the WHY under your word – maybe it is simply because you are Worthy – or maybe the sentence will be in your own words to resonate a little more with your own truth.  Either way – give it a WHY and make it your REALITY.

xx

  1. This a great read, and an interesting idea Lisa. So many of us are so busy setting our goals or putting our words of intent out there, yet we haven’t really thought about the why behind them. I am going to spend some time thinking about this, and what my ‘why’ truly is, thanks , xx

    • Glad it’s got you thinking Mel. I just love how I found my word – and I was sticking to it! Control Freak kicked in and then bam – the universe told me to dig a little deeper. I’d love to see what you find. xx

      • I had set my word of intention for the year as ‘expansive’, but in the moments before waking the other day the word ‘opportunity’ jumped into my mind. I can see more clearly how being more open and expansive in my heart, relationships and work will lead to new and amazing opportunities this year. Thanks for helping me to dig a little deeper, x

I’d hoped to return to study this year and was bitterly disappointed to find I can’t afford to. While mulling this over I had one of those moments of fortuitous insight. I saw myself tending my (very messy) property as a kind of spiritual path for the next year. A journey in mindfulness. My word? Yeah…not what I expected…space. I must create space to let everything else in. Why? Because my life lacks rhythm – thanks chronic fatigue – and I need physical, mental, emotional and psychic space (not a fan of ‘spiritual’) before I can develop my daily rhythm. And heal. (There’s a whole lot more but ‘space’ is limited, haha!)
That and my cat really likes ‘space’.

    • This is wonderful Helen. To let go and just be in that “space” can be such a gift. I wish you ease of release and expansive glorious space for you and your cat this year – and now you know why – it can be your reality. Xxx
