Coloured in Life wins a Liebster Award

LiebsterAward

I’m just a little bit excited!!! Just last week I received a Liebster Award for my humble little blog.  And the timing is perfect. Last week I pressed publish on my 26th post for the year.  And at one a week, that makes this my half way point for 2014. I am so grateful to receive this award and even more grateful that my blog is reaching out and appealing to readers and other bloggers.

This award wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Amanda from Life in Review who nominated me. I have been participating in Amanda’s instagram challenge for the month of July. The Happiness Photo Challenge is an awesome way to be mindful, present and grateful on a daily basis – I have thoroughly enjoyed documenting my gratitude – a practice I’ll keep up well past July.

This For those of you who aren’t aware of what the Liebster Blog Award is, it is given to bloggers, by bloggers, and it’s a fabulous way to discover new to you blogs, and you’re likely to love the other nominated blogs as your nominator loves them too.

The Liebster Blog Award recognises bloggers with a growing audience and this is what it requires us to do:

  • Link back and recognise the blogger who nominated us
  • Answer ten questions given by the nominator
  • Nominate ten other bloggers for the award
  • Create ten questions for nominees to answer
  • Notify our nominees
  • Get an award button and display it proudly

Sounds like a great way to spread the love and have some fun.

Here are the 10 questions that Amanda has asked me.

      1. When did you decide that you wanted to blog?

I slowly built up the idea during the last few months of 2012 when I was looking at leaving my job/career to forge a new path.  It took me a little over to 12 months to publish my first post after that though – lots of fears and limiting beliefs to work through first.

      2. If you could sing one song on X-Factor, what would it be?

I think it would be “Leaving on a Jet Plane”. Not because it is my favourite song, but because I once did a 6 week singing and voice course and this song was one that we really got into and worked out each line and each note and how to make it our own.

      3. What is your all time favourite book?

In the Non-Fiction section of my library – it is definitely “Dying to be Me” by Anita Moorjani – this one helped me adopt a refreshing approach to my life and my purpose. In my Fiction section – it would be anything by Marian Keyes – her Irish sense of humour often has me crying my eyes out in one paragraph followed quickly by laughing hysterically through those tears.

      4. What advice would your 80 year old self give your children? I think the most important message would be “Embrace your true self – give it space to shine and never apologise for being you.”

      5. What is your ultimate dream job?

Definitely a collaborative artist – I would love to be in the company of creative minds and work together to create something – preferably on a large scale with lots of soul saturating colour. Is there such a thing as a Rainbow Graffiti Artists Co-op? If so I’d love to be one of the members!

      6. What is your favourite food?

As a mum my instant answer is “anything cooked by someone else” – but if I had to choose it would be fresh and tasty mexican (not fast food – but true restaurant style). If you could arrange for Jamie Oliver to come to my house with all the ingredients, and cook it for me while I sat there chatting to him and drinking Sangria – I think that would be HEAVEN – wait a minute can I change my answer to question 5?  Maybe that should be my dream job.

      7. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

There are so many places – some I’ve been – some  I haven’t got there yet – but at the moment Bali is definitely on my radar – retreat style not tourism style.

      8. What are you most thankful for?

If I can only pick one it would have to be my own existence. I am grateful every day that I am alive – that i get to be me – with everyone and everything in my life – some of it challenging but most of the time it’s incredible and love-filled.

      9. How would you describe yourself in three words?

        Loyal, Thoughtful and Strong

      10. What do you like to do for fun?

I love painting – it is my most favoured form of self care – painting just for me – for my own joy. I also love sharing a great meal out with some of my soul sisters – or my hubby – a chance to focus on the conversation instead of the meal prep or dishes to be done etc.  And then days at the beach with my boys and my hubby – out in nature under the sun – playing.

Here are the 10 blogs I really enjoy reading that I would love to nominate for the Liebster Award.

And now my 10 questions for you ladies…

      1. What is your favourite colour? (you knew that would the top of my list right?)
      2. What is the most significant thing you have learnt about yourself on your blogging journey?
      3. In the movie they make based on your life story, who would be the actor/actress that plays you?
      4. Where do you most feel at home?
      5. What is one of the nicest things that your friends/loved ones say about you?
      6. If you were to write a children’s book, what would the title be?
      7. Of all the people you admire and look towards for inspiration, who would you love to spend a whole day with from Wake-up to lights out?
      8. What is the best piece of advice you ever followed?
      9. What is the one essential item you would take to a desert island (food and water are already provided thanks to mother nature)?
      10. If you could come back in the next life as an animal what would you choose?

I look forward to reading your answers. xx
